Good post. The local media here is closely tight with the political establishment, and regularly appoints itself propaganda mouthpiece for their wishes. WID is usually at the center of it - with Titan being a prime example.

The extreme venom spouted by a number of former volunteer firemen in New Hanover County is puzzling. They act like the county swept in and kicked them to the curb. This is just not true. The county did assume control of the stations and they are now staffed full time. The volunteers are still allowed to volunteer, the only change is who is in charge of the station.
