Southeastern NC's Political & Economic Opinion Arena
Well it appears that not only Sea-Comm Media, the owner of The Big Talker FM, was for sale, it's values and integrity were as well.
Wilmington's only local talk radio show that honestly looked at the inside of all things local government, that the local media was too afraid to report on, is now gone. Jake Russell, new Program Director at the Talker said that they have decided to go in a direction less "hateful and emotional" - whatever the hell that means. Basically, it's the changeover from a conservative talk station to a moderate talk station - and die-hard unapologetic conservatives now have no place in the new format.
Russell even conceded that the show had an audience and built a popular following, and was very popular for Saturday afternoons. The decision was strictly ideological.
The replacement show is a pre-recorded sleeper show about state issues - like we don't have enough of those. Listeners can no longer call in and rant between 2 and 3 as we had so much fun doing before.

I just sent him an email and indicated I will not listen to the Big Talker again until they return back to what a majority of this community wants,,, conservative talk radio. Maybe if they lose enough of the market share, they will heed this advice...because we know that in business, money talks

Have King Saffo and Queen Renee host the show. Realtors and developers can call in and kiss their asses for a couple hrs and tell them how wonderful they are. The King can politely tell us (as he laughs) how he is bending the city over and screwing all of us and getting rich off it. Queen Renee can tell us just how beautiful the people of Wilmington are and then proceed to tell us her favorites restuarants and food. Another issue is just WHO will be this years Azalea Queen as we are all dying to know. I say it needs to be a man.. after a1l we are such a diversified, liberal city. A TV show would be even better...Its not quite the same without seeing their fake tans, perfect hair and bleached teeth grinning ear to ear.

Whats really laughable is that what I wrote is pretty accurate as screwed up as it sounds. The Prince and Princess of Wilmington.. we are just SO lucky to have these clowns I'm beside myself
