Can Brian Berger overcome this?
First, let me say that I am a staunch Berger supporter because he is the lone voice of sanity of the commission. I have taken the Star News to task in Brian's defense. But I am convinced that there is a concerted effort to do what needs to be done to eliminate Berger from any local political office. And I have to admit, they are winning.
I do not know all the facts behind this latest news story of "domestic violence" and maybe I am off base here. But am just glad that the police haven't arrested me every time I got in an argument with my wife. I am wondering if Brian can even overcome the apparent public dissatisfaction? How do you stop a democrat machine that has the media in their back pocket and will use it to exploit any situation that will make them (the democrats) look good. How do we combat this? A conservative cannot breathe the wrong way without it getting blown out of proportion. I will bet dollars to donuts that someone is behind what is going on with Brian. The man has never been arrested before and now twice within a few months? Do I sound frustrated? Well, I am.

Earl - I agree. There is alot more to this than meets the eye. First of all, when you listen to the 911 tape, she is not afraid, or terrified, or in any imminent danger - she's simply asking that someone come out and referee the situation so she can get her stuff and leave. All of a sudden, Berger is arrested for simple assault. Later in the day, the girlfriend comes out and defends him - she says that he never touched her, never threatened her, never in any way caused any harm to her. She said that he is being mistreated and this whole thing is overblown. The response? The charges are INCREASED from simple assault to assualt on a female. The judge? Rebecca Blackmore - the liberal hard ass who ran an aggressive campaign against Jonathan Washburn - who Berger visibly and vocally supported. Hmmmm... I wonder....

"He's tried to, I don't know, grab me, and I'm scared to go over and get my stuff, so I'm wondering if there's any way that I can have a police officer come to my place and then escort me to his place so I can get my things."
"I'm just more scared that... he's already tried to get in my car and when I locked the doors so he couldn't get in, ripped the door handle off my car. So I really don't want to be alone with him right now."
Ben, that's from WECT, not WWAY. How can you say that she doesn't sound scared in that call when she says TWICE that she's scared?

I'm just glad that with all the crime in this city that the cops waste their time for this bullshit. lets send cops over an arguement over a freaking TV remote. Once again its a shame that we are represented by clowns and fools in this city. One is as big a clown as the next. Wonder how much security will be needed to stand around at the village idiots next commissioner meeting to protect everyone from big bad Berger? One would think between Barfield and big bad Jason THE MARINE they could take him on. HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA

Here is the problem that I do not see us overcoming...and that is the mindless mush for brains that do not listen to anything but what the mainstream media is telling them. I have had a truckload of friends come to me and say they will not vote for Berger because of the stuff being reported. I have gone to the mat to defend him (and will continue doing so) and have had some success in convincing some that there is a concerted effort to destroy Brian Berger. In doing so, they also destroy any credibility the tea party has for putting Brian out as the poster boy during this last election. So, it is a double whammy. We all know what is going on here but there is the masses that will vote that are still clueless... some have woken up but many are still asleep.
I know Blackburn well and it doesn't surprise me one bit if somehow she isnt connected to this. In a liberals mind, the end justifies the means and if the "means" means to destroy someone along the way, they will do it. There is not a doubt in my mind that the instant Brian beat Bill Caster, they got together with a plan to grind him up as much as they could if he should win the general election. And then, as you said, with his support of Jonathan, that just added fuel to the fire.

Right on Earl. We just have to be content in the fact that it is us who are well informed, and stand on principle - not mindless drivel spewed by the local media; that so many weak-minded simpletons in this town confuse as fact. It all comes out in the wash....

Earl, I have to ask: how many times has your wife called the cops after your arguments with concerns about her safety? And if that's ever happened, has it been more than once in the same year?

Robert, that is the misinformation that is being put out there. Heather Blaylock was on Ben's show today and explained this but unfortunately, if you already have preconceived notions about Berger because the media has fed your ears then there isnt a lot of discussion left. What she said was that she was only calling the police because she wanted a third party to "referee" and that it was not an emergency. She also said that the police... and media blew this out of proportion. I have been married 31 years and my wife and I have had some pretty heated arguments. There were times that we needed a "referee". There were even a couple times I stomped out of the house in total anger. I love my wife very much and I dont know a married couple that hasnt had ugly arguments at times.
Heather called the police, not because she wanted them to arrest Berger (because she says that she was surprised when it happened) but just to stand by so that she could get her stuff from his house. She said that she was in an abusive relationship before and just wanted to take the extra precaution because of their argument.
The door knob that Brian pulled off? She admits that Brian was trying to get her to stay, and as she was backing up, he tried to open the door and the handle came off. My question to you Robert is, how many guys do you know that can pull off a functioning car door handle? At 56, I dont know a single person. Do you? Which leads me to the only logical conclusion that there was already problem with the door knob. Blaylock also said that because of the area she lives in, there have been tampering with her car, i.e. one time bubble gum was inserted into the keyhole.
The incident in January, was initiated, not by Heather, but by her sister. Now, Robert, the ball is in your court. you can still have the attitude that Brian is "guilty" solely on the bases that the media would never mislead you, or you can believe the comments straight from Blaylocks mouth who was there. Oh and btw Robert, were you there? I wasn't either.

Um, did you listen to her 911 call? Nobody forced her to say the things she did in that call about how Brian had tried to grab her and that she was "scared"

Yes Robert, I actually did listen to the tape....she said it was "not an emergency" and I heard her on Ben's show. She reiterated that exact statement and was very calm and straightforward when saying it. I do not know what else I can tell you.
She explained the "scare" part too... as i did in my previous post to you. She had been in a previous abused relationship and didnt want another. I assure you, the arguments my wife and I have had over the last 31 years, you can ask my wife, she was pretty scared as well...it is the female in her for the most part. I have never hit my wife and never acted like I was going to, I have never threatened her and we do not get in a lot of arguments...but when we do, many times they are dooseys. And again, I love my wife more than life itself..but that is what happens in relationships.
Ben, on his show, said something that is so true. It is the ones we love that we seem to have the biggest fights with. I don't argue with my next door neighbor or the guy down the street. I could careless what they think, but I do with my wife. This is no different in Brian and Heather's case either.
