Wilmington Rants!

Southeastern NC's Political & Economic Opinion Arena

They're moving Marty to the afternoon and Curtis in his favorite time slot - 6 - 10 AM. Going to be very interesting hearing a very conservative voice coming out of the WAAV locally. No telling what's happening to Harvard Jennings - I'd like to see them stick him in the studio with Curtis - THAT would be interesting radio!

“We couldn’t ignore the ratings success he had at the Big Talker and the possible advertising revenue that it brings….His larger than life reputation among talk show hosts will be a welcome shot in the arm for WAAV. I look at him as the Rush Limbaugh of Wilmington in terms of reputation.” Mike Farrow, Cumulus Media, 2010

Now, what was that dufus Dana Page saying...as my father once said; "empty barrels make the most noise'!

Hey, Page, go back to your wheel chairs and needles....
Good for you Curtis - glad to hear you'll be back on the air locally. Is Harvard gone?
This is really going to be interesting with Chad Adams on the Big Talker and Curtis on WAAV during the same time slot. Why can't we have both?
Wright sent out an email to several of his fans, stating the following:

"It is with great pleasure to share with you the two Press Releases from Cumulus Media Inc. for the launch of my new morning talk show on both WFNC, Fayetteville, and WAAV, Wilmington, North Carolina! I am honored to now be associated with one of the most respected broadcasting organizations in the World. Cumulus Media is not just a leader in radio broadcasting, but forging the way in bringing new innovations and the highest levels of quality to the 'Spoken Word', Talk Broadcasting medium.

This new opportunity will allow my show to now reach multiple markets, thousands of more new listeners, and continue to promote more and more involvement by our neighbors throughout our State in the 'historic' public debate now underway on a myriad of social and political issues effecting their lives and the future of their communities!

How honored I am to embark upon this new adventure with such a well-respected and capable partner in Talk Radio broadcasting! Stay tuned and strap yourselves in - southeastern North Carolina's "Lone Tough Talker" is coming June 1st to WFNC and WAAV!"

Wright has been an active member of several organizations, including the Council of Neighborhoods Association, the Northeast Library Action Committee, the Family & Neighborhoods Institute of North Carolina and The North Carolina Coastal Conservative Coalition.

Wright actually began his career at WAAV.

Dana, if he is that "boring", then why did Cumulus Media pick him up? I happen to be very good friends with Mike Farrow and knowing Mike the way I do, as their program director, they wouldn't have hired him unless it was beneficial for both. I assure you, Cumulus radio is far from being "desperate"
